The apricot (botanical species Prunus armeniaca) is a subspecies of Prunophora, which belongs to the Prunus species of the rose family. The apricot originates from north-eastern China and was introduced to Europe via Anatolia by the Romans around 70 BC. The apricot is mainly cultivated in the Mediterranean countries. However, there are also cultivation areas further north, such as in the Vinschgau Valley in South Tyrol, where most of the apricots we use for our products come from. Their colors range from yellow to orange to fiery red tones. Apricots are a delight for the eye, the sense of smell and the taste. Sweet, tender, with a particularly intense aroma. A combination of sweet and slightly tart flavor. We process around 20 tons per year.
