The apple (Malus domestica) belongs to the pome fruit family (Pyrinae) within the rose family (Rosaceae) and is one of the most popular fruits worldwide. At Alpe Pragas, we particularly use the so-called Renette varieties from Val Venosta in South Tyrol. These apples are cultivated in the valley’s high-altitude orchards, where the cool climate and sunny days create ideal growing conditions.

Renette apples are known for their irregular skin, which ranges from green to yellowish tones and is often tinged with a reddish blush. Their flavour is vibrant and refreshing, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and characteristic acidity. The juicy yet firm flesh delivers an intense aroma and a pleasant mouthfeel.
